Japanese Cosmo Lifting - More Than an Aesthetic Treatment

Written by Lone Sorensen

Many people think Japanese Cosmo Lifting is about outward beauty and natural lift. That isunderstandable. The name sounds like a cosmetic treatment, the result is visible in the face -and yes, it lifts. The skin looks better. The face looks more rested and alive. That is real.

But that is not what the method is built on.

The story behind the method

have worked as a therapist since 1978, and for many years my primary interest was illness -children with disabilities, neurological conditions, complex chronic cases. Anti-age treatment and wrinkles did not interest me particularly.

But something changed. When I began working seriously with Facial Zone and Reflexologytherapy in the early nineties, I noticed something consistent: clients who came to me with illnesslooked different when they recovered. The skin gained colour. The eyes shone. Lines reduced. The inner state reflects in the outer - that was obvious.

I began exploring the possibility of developing a treatment that combined the aesthetic with thetherapeutic. In 1999, at a congress in Argentina, I met a Japanese woman named Tanaka whoworked with a self-lifting technique widely practised in Japan. She was almost 70 years old andhad skin I had never seen the equal of. She taught me the method.

But I knew immediately it was not enough. I wanted something that treated the body from within- the hormonal system, circulation, the nervous system, the lymphatic system - not simply tonedmuscles and improved lymphatic drainage. It took me a couple of years to develop the completeconcept. What we today call Japanese Cosmo Lifting was ready by the end of 1999.

The face mirrors the inner state

Stress, lack of sleep, hormonal imbalance, chronic muscular tension and emotional overloadshow in the face long before they register as actual illness. The skin loses vitality. Musclesbecome rigid or weak. Lymphatic fluid stagnates. Expression lines deepen.

The large intestine is the organ with the greatest single influence on the condition of the facialskin. When it is not functioning optimally, characteristic changes appear: the natural fold fromthe nose toward the jawline deepens, the cheeks begin to sag, and lines form above the upperlip. The same principle applies throughout the body. The heart shows above the eyebrows. Thelungs show on the cheeks. The liver and gallbladder can produce a yellowish cast to the faceand swelling in the temple area.

The face is a precise map of the body's condition. That is what we work with.

What the treatment does

Japanese Cosmo Lifting is structured in two main parts.

The first phases are concerned entirely with bringing the body into balance from within. We stimulate points with direct connections to the central nervous system, the meridian system, the circulation and the lymphatic system. We work with the hormonal system through specific stimulation zones in the forehead. And we work through facial zones from Facial Zone and Reflexology therapy using a technique adapted for lifting purposes, but which still acts on the body's organs and systems.

This is followed by the 11 Japanese steps - the part most people associate with the lifting treatment itself. These work like muscular exercise. They increase blood flow to muscle and connective tissue, tone the facial muscles and activate the body's own regenerative processes. A firm pressure is required - not hard, but firm - because the muscles need to be worked and circulation needs to increase.

Because the face is richly connected to the nervous system, stimulation here can influence the whole body through neurological and reflexological pathways. This is one reason many clients experience not only aesthetic improvement but also deep relaxation, better sleep and an overall sense of wellbeing after treatment.

The treatment closes with mineral-rich saltwater containing all 12 essential minerals and crystal spheres that cool the face and help the minerals absorb into the skin, connective tissue and muscles.

Lasting results require treatment from within

Lines and loss of muscle tone do not appear by chance. They have internal causes. If we work only with the muscles and the lymphatic system without addressing the internal imbalances that create the problem, results will fade quickly. Treatment from within is not an added detail — it is what makes results last.

For a client who wants results comparable to a surgical procedure, three treatments per weekare required. That is not a sales strategy - it is physiology. Facial muscles respond exactly as the body's other muscles do: one session per week produces minimal structural change. Atypical course is 12 treatments, though that varies according to the starting point.

One treatment per week is realistic for maintenance - or as wellness. It is relaxing, regulating and beneficial for anyone. But visible structural change requires intensity.

A different understanding of beauty

Japanese Cosmo Lifting represents a different approach to aesthetics.

True rejuvenation is about looking younger. It is about restoring vitality, softness, expression, circulation, balance and the connection between the face, the nervous system and the body asa whole. When we achieve that from within, the face reflects it. Colour improves. Muscles firmup. Lines reduce. The eyes open.

This is why the treatment is experienced as both aesthetic and therapeutic at the same time -and why it integrates naturally into holistic aesthetic clinics, anti-stress programs and treatment settings where the client's overall wellbeing is part of the goal.

I work with women and men from 20 to 92. My oldest client in Barcelona is 92 and has come for treatment every week for several years. That is not unusual. The treatment is gentle enough for everyone and precise enough to work.
